The enigmatic nature of the runes is undeniable. But what are runes, exactly?

In Runes for Beginners, best-selling author Lisa Chamberlain shines the light on these ancient symbols, showing you how to discover and utilize their unique magical energies. With both an eye toward tradition and a multicultural spirit, Lisa combines an appreciation for the Germanic roots of the runes with a more eclectic Neopagan approach.

  • The history of the runes and their role within the framework of the Germanic magical worldview
  • The origins of runic wisdom in Norse mythology
  • An overview of the Elder Futhark, the oldest-known runic alphabet and most widely used rune system in contemporary Neopaganism
  • Basic techniques of rune magic, including rune scripts, bind runes, and creating runic talismans
  • How to make your own runes
  • Instructions for traditional rune-casting as well as contemporary rune spreads
  • Tips for successful divination
  • The divinatory meanings and magical uses of each rune in the Elder Futhark
  • A suggested-reading list for further exploring the runes and the magical and spiritual traditions of the ancient Germanic peoples

A very helpful guide

This is a very helpful guide for Beginners in northern Mythology. I also enjoyed the voice of Kris Keppeler. I tried similar books and the voices were just annoying. Thank you.

Great!

Wonderful information. Recommend for detailed explanation of the Rune. Better if you have the book or computer to follow along, though.

Informative but incomplete

There was to be a PDF available to go along with this book .. but the website no longer supports this book. Otherwise it was informative

Good content, harsh narration

I was really happy with the content of this book. Pleasantly surprised. The reader sounded like an annoyed teacher working beyond retirement. If you can learn to live with this kind of delivery, you’ll learn a lot. I’m definitely going to buy the hard copy for quick references. I do appreciate someone taking the time to narrate. I just wish these books came with choice of narrator.

You won't fall asleep

If you're the type of person who likes your esoteric information yelled at you, you will LOVE this book.

The material covered in the book is standard fare for the topic of runes. It's fine, but gives pretty much the exact same information most other introductory guides provide.

The reader seems to think that volume makes a book more convincing. Though her voice isn't necessarily grating or irritating, I wouldn't give it a second listen for the pleasantness of the performance.

Just a bad audiobook

Just a terrible audiobook this makes you wonder where the PDF book is to accompany this book that way you can read or see what is being talked about.
